Hello to all my new followers — I’m Lisa!
I’m a professional choreographer, director of Lisa Simpson Inclusive Dance, workshop leader, and the Artistic Director of Dance for SENSE. My mission is simple and bold: to transform the lives of people with complex needs across the UK and internationally through creativity, connection, and equal opportunity.
Living with Quadriplegia, Cerebral Palsy, and being non‑verbal, I know first hand how vital it is that everyone — regardless of ability — has access to artistic expression. Dance changed my life, and now I’m committed to opening that door for others.
My love for choreography began when I worked with Adam Benjamin, co‑founder of CandoCo Dance Company. He wanted to find a way for me to choreograph — even before I knew what choreography meant. That moment sparked the creation of the Simpson Board, a tool that allowed me to physically choreograph for the first time. It was a revelation. I knew then that other disabled people deserved the same opportunity.
Today, the Simpson Board continues to grow as an innovative, affordable tool that supports disabled artists to express their creative voice. Alongside this, I lead inclusive workshops that use props, tools, and collaborative methods to empower participants to shape the creative process themselves.
If you’re passionate about dance, inclusion, or creative innovation, I’d love to connect. Join me on this journey as I continue developing new tools, leading workshops, and championing disabled-led choreography across the dance community.
Let’s dance together towards a brighter, more inclusive future.
